JCWC Brings Home Nine Medals from State

More than 2,500 Wrestlers Compete at USA Wrestling Kansas State Championships; Junction City Club Brings Home Nine Medals

The USA Wrestling Kansas 2026 State Championships brought three days of intense competition to the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka from March 13–15, with 2,529 wrestlers from across the state battling for podium spots in one of Kansas’ largest annual youth sporting events.

Girls’ divisions opened the tournament Friday, March 13, followed by two full days of boys’ competition on March 14–15. The event featured athletes ranging from 8U divisions to high school competitors, all fighting for state titles in front of a packed crowd.

The Junction City Wrestling Club (JCWC) sent 26 wrestlers to the championship weekend and came away with nine top‑six finishers, highlighted by one state champion.

JCWC Coach Brandon Perkins said the weekend reflected the payoff from months of dedication. “I’m incredibly proud of every one of our wrestlers,” Perkins said. “They put in the work all season and it showed on the mat this weekend. The medals are great, but the growth and grit they showed mean even more.”

The strong showing capped a successful season for the Junction City Wrestling Club, reflecting the hard work its wrestlers put in throughout the year.
